In this week's Employee Spotlight, we're featuring Tre Von McClellan, New Employee Orientation Coordinator in the Edina corporate office. If you've had a chance to read Ebenezer's 2025 Impact Report, you may recognize Tre as one of the team members highlighted for his career journey. This spotlight series takes a deeper look at the people behind those stories, showcasing the many growth opportunities available at Ebenezer and celebrating employees who continue to make a difference in the lives of residents and colleagues alike.
Tre's connection to senior living started long before his career at Ebenezer. Growing up, he often accompanied his mother to the assisted living community where she worked. Some of his favorite childhood memories include gardening with residents, picking vegetables, and spending time learning from them.
Those early experiences helped shape his future. "Senior living is not just a career path for me—it is something that has always been a part of who I am," Tre says. "I enjoy bringing joy, comfort, and companionship to residents and helping them live their best lives."
Tre began his Ebenezer journey as a Resident Assistant at Riley Crossing in Chanhassen. Looking for opportunities to continue learning and growing, he later moved to Pillars of Lakeville as a Lead Resident Assistant during the community's opening. Soon after, he stepped into the Resident Services Coordinator role, where he supported scheduling, trained new team members, and helped strengthen operations across the community.
When the opportunity arose to join the corporate team as a New Employee Orientation Coordinator, Tre once again embraced a new challenge.
"I was excited about the opportunity to expand my knowledge, support multiple communities, and continue growing as a leader," he says.
Throughout his career, Tre has seen firsthand how internal career growth benefits both employees and residents. His experience working directly with residents gave him a strong understanding of the challenges and rewards of caregiving, knowledge he continues to carry into his work today.
"Because I began my career working directly with residents, I understand the day-to-day realities of caregiving and the importance of strong support systems for staff," Tre explains.
Now, in his corporate role, Tre helps support new employees as they begin their careers with Ebenezer. Whether he's answering onboarding questions, assisting site leaders, or providing training and support, his goal is to help teams feel prepared and confident so they can provide the best possible care for residents.
When asked what advice he would give someone interested in growing their career at Ebenezer, Tre encourages employees to remain open to new experiences.
"My biggest piece of advice would be to stay curious, be open to learning, and take opportunities when they arise," he says. "Some of the biggest steps in my career happened because I was willing to try something new or step into a role that challenged me."
He also credits the leaders and mentors who encouraged him along the way, helping him build confidence and develop as a leader.
What excites Tre most about his current role is the opportunity to support employees and leaders across multiple communities while continuing to develop his own leadership skills. Through mentorship, new learning opportunities, and programs like the LeadingAge Leadership Academy, he continues to find new ways to grow professionally while helping others succeed.
His journey from Resident Assistant to New Employee Orientation Coordinator is a powerful example of the opportunities available at Ebenezer and the impact that can happen when employees are encouraged to learn, grow, and pursue their passions.
