The Sycamore at the Preserve Ground Breaking

Ebenezer | Aug 15, 2026

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, Ebenezer and project partners officially broke ground on The Sycamore at The Preserve, a new memory care community coming to Maplewood, Minnesota.

The groundbreaking brought together Ebenezer leaders, project partners and representatives from the City of Maplewood to mark the beginning of a community designed specifically to support people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

When complete, The Sycamore at The Preserve will feature 32 memory care apartments, including 26 studios and six one-bedroom apartments. More than a new building, the community represents an investment in compassionate, specialized care for older adults and greater peace of mind for families seeking memory care close to home.

A Community Inspired by Its Surroundings

Bordered by protected wetlands, The Sycamore at The Preserve was thoughtfully planned to embrace its natural surroundings and reflect Maplewood’s connection to lakes, parks and green spaces.

Residents and families will be able to experience that connection to nature through peaceful views, changing seasons, wildlife and secure outdoor spaces designed for spending meaningful time together.

Inside, residents will have access to private apartments, welcoming gathering spaces, chef-prepared meals and opportunities to participate in music, art, exercise and other meaningful activities. Each element of the community is being designed with the goal of supporting residents’ abilities, encouraging connection and creating opportunities for dignity, purpose and joy.

Bringing the Ebenezer Difference to Maplewood

During the ceremony, Brett Anderson, President and CEO of Ebenezer, shared remarks about Ebenezer’s role in the new community and its commitment to serving older adults and their families. Rev. Chris Beckman also offered a blessing for the community and the people who will one day call it home.

For more than a century, Ebenezer has cared for older adults with a focus on the whole person. At The Sycamore at The Preserve, that commitment will continue through compassionate, person-centered memory care that honors each resident’s individual story, preferences and abilities while supporting mental, physical, spiritual and social wellbeing.

As Brett shared during the groundbreaking, buildings create spaces, but people create community. It is the team members, residents, families and partners who will ultimately bring The Sycamore at The Preserve to life.

Thank You to Our Partners

The groundbreaking also recognized the many organizations and individuals helping make this new community possible, including Frisbie Companies, LLC, developer; Amcon, architect and construction partner; Kimley-Horn, civil engineering partner; Swanson’s Flooring, interiors partner; financing partners and investors; and the City of Maplewood.

Maplewood Mayor Marylee Abrams joined the ceremony and shared remarks welcoming the project to the community.

The groundbreaking is only the beginning. In the months ahead, the site will transform into a place where residents can build friendships, families can gather and team members can provide the compassionate care that has defined Ebenezer for generations.

We look forward to watching The Sycamore at The Preserve take shape and, eventually, welcoming its first residents and families.
